 Celebrating 150 Years in Music

This season, we marked an extraordinary milestone in our history — the 150th Anniversary of the Belfast Philharmonic Society. Thank you to everyone who joined us for a truly unforgettable evening at Ulster Hall on the 25th of May 2025, where we celebrated not only our past, but our future.

The centrepiece of the concert was the premiere of The Offing, a moving and ambitious new work by composer Elaine Agnew, set to words by acclaimed poet Sinéad Morrissey. Performed by the Belfast Philharmonic Choir, Youth and Chamber Choirs, and the Ulster Orchestra, the piece was met with a standing ovation and glowing praise for its beauty and emotional impact.

We are deeply proud of this collaborative commission, made possible by the support of our partners, funders, and generous audiences.

 Youth Choir Highlights

Our Youth Choirs are celebrating the 20th anniversary this year as they continue to go from strength to strength! This term, our young singers took part in the anniversary concert, performed in their own showcases, and participated in workshops with guest artists.

Recruitment is now open for new members in September — please help us spread the word! Details and audition info coming out soon.
